Following those 5 years of innovation the call to run his own business was too strong, and Last Mile Fibre was born. Still very much at the forefront of design, Neil works with both manufacturers and service providers giving advice and guidance as well as sourcing and designing the right products for their needs.
Our Beginnings...
Neil Gilbert - Director and Product Designer
Having been with BT for 20 years, 5 of which in the chief engineers office, Neil has been at the forefront of Fibre to the Premises Innovation (FTTP). His early years as an engineer gave him a unique insight in to not only what products were needed in the field but what was missing. Too many ‘make do’ products instead of ‘fibre specific’. The result of which proved to be inefficient and expensive. During those 5 years in the Chief Engineers Office, Neil worked alongside numerous manufacturers to design ‘fibre specific’ products, many of which are still used today.
